North Cyprus – The Hidden Jewel in the Mediterranean

With 120 miles of powder white sands, over 300 days of annual sunshine and fantastic beachfront hotels, it’s no wonder North Cyprus is a fast-growing all-year round beach holiday destination.

Kyrenia, North Cyprus

Kyrenia

Also known as the “Jewel of Cyprus”, Kyrenia is an ideal base for a holiday in North Cyprus. Kyrenia is famous for its trendy villages and historical sites and is also a popular destination for beach lovers.

Kyrenia’s picturesque harbour has been described as one of the most beautiful in the world. Its cafes are always busy in summer, packed with visitors and locals alike and nearly every café table has a great view over the water.

Kyrenia, North Cyprus

Kyrenia Castle lies at the entrance to the town's famous harbour and stands guard over the port. The castle is in a remarkable state of preservation and if you’re strolling through the old town, its imposing walls and towers are never far away. The castle is home to many historic treasures including the Northern Cyprus' shipwreck museum which contains some of the world's most important and well-preserved pieces of marine history.

Kyrenia offers plenty for the keen shopper with a vast array of outlets and a wide variety of restaurants.

Other nearby attractions include the castle of St Hilarion, which is perched in the mountains overlooking Kyrenia town and the Mediterranean. The castle is one of the best preserved of all the Crusader Castles and offers many opportunities for both those with an interest in history and those seeking spectacular views.

The beautiful village of Bellapais is located in the hills above Kyrenia just four miles from the North Cyprus coast. With breathtaking views, tiny streets and ancient buildings around every corner, the village has changed little over the years. There is a lot to see and do in Bellapais. The abbey is certainly a 'must see' and so are the ancient crusader paths that criss-cross the mountain - not to mention an excellent selection of restaurants and taverns!

Our Kyrenia holidays and hotels offer great value with plenty of things to do!  Aside from golden beaches of the coast and its magnificent mountain backdrop, Kyrenia’s interior offers remarkable sightseeing opportunities and charming cafes, sea-front restaurants, shops and bars, creating a vibrant atmosphere by day and by night.

Famagusta

Famagusta, on the east coast of Cyprus, has some of the best beaches in Cyprus and is definitely worth a visit on your trip to North Cyprus. The old town with its huge medieval walls has countless ancient Roman and Greek historical treasures including the Monastery of St Barnabus as well as ancient churches & Venetian palaces.

In the very heart of Famagusta Bay, the ancient Roman city of Salamis is the most fascinating archaeological site on the island. Dating from 1100BC, it attracts visitors from far and wide to view the ruins which include its colonnaded gymnasium and baths, the agora and the famous Temple of Zeus. Other nearby places include the tomb of St Barnabas and Othello’s Tower.

Famagusta is an ideal base to explore the wild and unexplored beauty of the Karpaz Peninsula.
