Calpe can be found at the heart of Costa Blanca. Once an ancient fishing village, it is now a popular tourist destination due to its year-round Mediterranean climate, and its beautiful beaches. The numerous beaches are one of the resorts main highlights, however there is much more to see and do. Take in the historic attractions and visit Banos de La Reina, an ancient Roman fish farm which ruins can be still seen today. Take a walk-through medieval time and explore the ruins at La Pobla D’Ifac, where a medieval walled village once stood. Venture into the old town of Calpe and admire the striking gothic churches.
Calpe is suitable for families due to its shallow water beaches, with various water sport activities to take part in. There is also water & theme park’s nearby that kids will enjoy. En Fallas festival in Calpe takes place in March and is held over a period of five days. Large papier-mâché statues line the streets and are then burned at midnight on the 19th of March, celebrating the beginning of spring.
The best and most popular time to visit Calpe is during the summer months, with temperatures averaging in the high 20’s. The all year-round warm Mediterranean climate makes Calpe the perfect destination for a winter sun holiday.
