Right, let's talk about Lanzarote holidays from Dublin. You know that feeling when you're stuck at the 46A bus stop in the lashing rain, dreaming about anywhere with actual sunshine? Yeah, that's when booking a flight to Lanzarote starts looking really appealing!
The brilliant thing about Lanzarote holidays from Dublin is how straightforward they've become. With multiple direct flights weekly from Dublin Airport, you can literally go from Baggot Street to a volcanic beach in under four hours. No messing about with connections, no dragging your bags through massive European hubs - just hop on in Dublin and you're sorted.
I've been helping Dublin families and couples book their Canary Islands escapes for years now, and honestly, Lanzarote keeps delivering. Whether you're a family from Clontarf wanting guaranteed sunshine during mid-term, a couple from Rathmines needing a romantic break, or a group of mates from Tallaght looking for winter sun and craic, this volcanic island has the lot.
Lanzarote holidays offer something for everyone. If you’re travelling to Lanzarote from Ireland, Budget Travel makes it easy to plan your perfect getaway. Known for its year-round sunshine, golden beaches, and family-friendly resorts, situated just 80 miles off the North African coast, this Canary Island enjoys warm weather all year round - ideal for winter sun breaks or summer adventures.

Nicole Mullally from our team flew to Lanzarote and shared her experience: "We flew with Aer Lingus return on an Airbus 320. Everything from check in to in flight service was smooth. The flight departed on time and took 3hrs 50mins direct from Dublin."
That's the beauty of flying from Dublin - under four hours from take-off to landing. You could leave Dublin after breakfast and be sipping a cold one by the pool in time for lunch. Now that's what I call fantastic!

Pro Tip: Nicole's flight experience shows Aer Lingus service is top-notch, but package deals through Budget Travel often work out cheaper than booking flights separately - plus you get the whole holiday sorted in one go!
The route takes you straight past the UK, down through France, along the Portuguese coast, and down to the Canaries off the coast of Morocco. On a clear day, you might even spot the Pyrenees or the African coastline. It's actually quite amazing watching the landscape change as you fly south.
Timanfaya National Park: Nicole Mullally visited and had this brilliant description: "The views from here are breathtaking for two reasons, one being that it really is absolutely stunning and amazing but the other is because we were on a coach and there were no walls or barriers up on the windy, twisty road up the volcano!"
They've got this restaurant called El Diablo where "meat and vegetables are cooked on an open furnace over the volcanic rock with the heat of the volcano which is around 300 degrees." How cool is that ? You're literally eating food cooked by an active volcano!
Best Time: Early morning before tour buses
Duration: 2-3 hours
Cueva de los Verdes: This place is absolutely incredible. Nicole described it perfectly: "My favourite things about the trip were the Cuevo de los Verdes, I can't explain how magical the experience was! The contrast of the colours in the tunnel due to the layers of rock was awesome. The tunnel also harbours a secret which we apparently are not allowed to tell anyone about for fear of a torturous death according to our guide, Tobias!"
Now, we obviously can't reveal the secret (Tobias sounds like he means business!), but trust us - it's worth every cent of the €10 entry fee.
Jameos del Agua: Nicole highly recommends this: "Highly recommend because its such an experience to have a meal in the cavern."
Designed by César Manrique (the island's most famous artist), this restaurant is literally inside a volcanic cavern. It's one of those experiences you'll be telling everyone about when you get back to Dublin.
Best Time: Lunchtime for the full dining experience
La Geria Vineyards: Nicole visited and loved it: "Such wines are crisp and refreshing, perfect for enjoying on a hot summer or even winter's day...and are absolutely delicious if I say so myself!"
The vineyards here are grown in volcanic ash in these semi-circular stone walls. It's a unique sight, and the Malvasía wines are genuinely lovely. A wine tasting tour costs around €10-€20 and is grand for a relaxed afternoon.

This is where most Dublin holidaymakers end up for their Lanzarote holidays from Dublin, and for good reason. It's got a gorgeous 6km beach, loads of restaurants (including a few Irish bars when you're feeling homesick), and it's only 20 minutes from the airport.
The Old Town harbour area is perfect for romantic dinners, while the main strip has enough bars and entertainment to keep things interesting. It's lively without being mental - you're not going to feel like you're on a lads' trip to Magaluf!
Nicole Mullally stayed here and absolutely loved it: "We spent 4 nights based in Puerto Calero in the 4* Hotel Costa Calero Thalasso and Spa. We had a mix of room types, so we got a feel for the standard, I had a double standard sea view which was very large and had everything you need. The hotel itself was beautiful, and the service was exceptional."
She continued: "We had All Inclusive Prestige, which had its own specific dining area, sunbathing area, a private lounge, fully stocked mini bar, Nespresso machine, Clarins amenities, complimentary access to the spa and Thalasso."
Nicole recommends this property "for older guests, couples looking to chill and for families with young children."
Why It's Perfect for Dublin Holidaymakers:
If you're a Dublin family with young kids, Costa Teguise is your spot. The beaches have calmer waters (perfect for little swimmers), there's an aqua park that'll keep them entertained for hours, and the whole vibe is relaxed and family-friendly.
There's even a few Irish pubs here when you're missing a proper pint of Guinness!
Down south you'll find Playa Blanca, which is more sophisticated. The marina is stunning for sunset strolls, and there are some gorgeous upmarket hotels here. Mary from Ireland stayed in this area and said: "We stayed in Cay Beach Sun in Playa Blanca and it was very central to all amenities. The prom is perfect for easy walking and there are numerous restaurants to choose from."
Peak Season (June-August & Christmas):
Shoulder Season (April-May & September-October):
Off-Peak (November-March):
Nicole observed: "The weather is steadily 20 degrees all around with roughly 350 out of 365 days of sun." That's the beauty of Lanzarote - even in January, you're practically guaranteed better weather than a Dublin summer!
October Mid-Term: Absolute winner for Dublin families! The weather's still gorgeous, prices haven't hit winter peak, and you're getting proper sunshine during Halloween week. Book by August for best choice of flights and hotels.
February Mid-Term: Perfect for escaping the worst of Dublin winter. Sure, 20°C might be mild for Lanzarote, but it's shorts weather compared to home!
Easter Break: Gets pricey, but worth it for guaranteed sun. Book by January at the latest - Lanzarote fills up fast over Easter.
Summer Holidays: Look, it's going to cost you, but direct daily flights from Dublin make it convenient. Book before March if you can stomach paying that early!
Sun Protection (Don't Skip This!):
The Canarian sun is way stronger than Dublin sunshine (obviously!). Don't be that person who's burnt to a crisp on day one.
Clothing Essentials:
For Volcanic Excursions: Nicole visited loads of attractions, so here's what you'll need:
Don't Forget:
Book Packages Through Budget Travel: Lisa from Dublin discovered this: "Myself and my husband and 3 kids are going to Lanzarote. I got a call off Róisín and she was very helpful, I even got a better price than online 😊"
That's the thing - we can often beat the online comparison sites because we've got access to charter allocations and bulk hotel bookings.
Other Smart Savings:
Nicole mentioned: "As the Canaries have a special arrangement, all tobacco, alcohol, perfumes etc have a duty free discount." Stock up at Lanzarote Airport before heading back to Dublin!
Dublin Airport:
Lanzarote Airport (ACE): Nicole shared: "We arrived into Cesar Manrique airport (ACE) in Lanzarote where the runway is directly opposite the sea. It's a small airport with flights spaced apart which made getting bags and passport control quite easy although I'd say it could be a bit of a wait during peak times."
Transfer Times to Resorts:
Nicole noted the local culture: "Lanzarote people are very chilled, they don't rush. They are very Spanish in their ways...they take siesta and also a lot of places don't open on a Sunday."
Essential Phrases:
Dublin Tip: Even basic attempts at Spanish will get you smiles and better service. The locals appreciate the effort!
Direct flights take approximately 3 hours 50 minutes. Nicole Mullally flew with Aer Lingus and confirmed "The flight departed on time and took 3hrs 50mins direct from Dublin." You can leave Dublin in the morning and be on the beach by lunchtime!
Yes! Both Aer Lingus and Ryanair operate direct flights from Dublin to Lanzarote. During peak season (April-October), there are often daily flights. Off-peak might have fewer frequency, but direct options are still available. Budget Travel can help find the best times for your dates.
Nicole confirmed: "The weather is steadily 20 degrees all around with roughly 350 out of 365 days of sun." Winter averages 17-20°C (way better than Dublin!), summer hits 24-29°C. You're practically guaranteed sunshine whenever you visit.
Absolutely brilliant for families! Costa Teguise has calm beaches perfect for kids, there's an aqua park, and the volcanic attractions are brilliant, educational fun. Nicole recommends Hotel Costa Calero "for families with young children." Plus, with direct flights from Dublin, you're not dealing with stressful connections when travelling with little ones.
A week's all-inclusive package typically ranges from €500-€1,200 (check website for accurate pricing) per person depending on season, hotel quality, and how far ahead you book. October mid term might be €600-€900 per person, peak summer €800-€1,500. Call Budget Travel on 01 435 0024 for current prices! (These are estimations – call for exact pricing)
No visa needed! Just bring your valid passport. Lanzarote is part of Spain, so it's perfect for Irish citizens. No forms, no hassle, just go!
Depends what you're after! Puerto del Carmen for first-timers and nightlife, Costa Teguise for families with young kids, Playa Blanca for couples wanting peace and romance, Puerto Calero for spa luxury. All are 15-35 minutes from the airport, so transfers are handy.
Yes! Credit and debit cards work everywhere. Just check with your bank about foreign transaction fees. Some charge 2-3% per transaction. Revolut or N26 cards are handy for avoiding those fees!
Maeve Reilly from Dublin had this experience: "I had a query regarding my booking and Chloe Thompson (Dublin branch) was extremely helpful. She listened to me in an empathetic manner and assured me she would look into my query and ring me back in an hour which is exactly what she did. She had sourced a wonderful room for me and was so courteous and professional."
Rebecca shared: "Website easy to navigate, reasonable prices for flights and accommodation, was last minute but tickets issued quick, we went to Lanzarote and apartments were lovely and clean, exactly as described, definitely use budget travel again, thanks for a great holiday."
Carol said: "Very efficient and prompt when booking the holiday to Lanzarote for a family. The representative had first hand experience of the apartments we were thinking of booking so it made it easier to make the choice."
