Despite its location just north of Santorini, Ios doesn’t have black sand beaches, and instead boasts gorgeous stretches of golden sand. There is no airport on the island of Ios, however the ferry from Santorini takes just 1 hour. Many tourists opt to spend some time in Athens and take the ferry to Ios from Piraeus Port, which takes roughly 4 hours.

Partygoers tend to flock to the island during July and August so if you’re looking for a quieter atmosphere, June and September are great times to go. There is a cool breeze at this time of year, ideal for sunbathing and sightseeing.
