Viktoriia's trip to Gran Canaria
By Viktoriia Spudko
This was my first visit to Gran Canaria, where I spent five days exploring both the old and new parts of the capital, Las Palmas, as well as the south of the island. It was especially valuable for me to experience this area first-hand as it allowed me to gain a better understanding of what it offers to our customers.
What I Loved
After my trip, I came away with a few personal favourite spots across Gran Canaria. In Las Palmas, the Las Canteras area really stood out, with its long sandy beach, lively promenade, and stunning views; on a clear day you can even see Tenerife in the distance. I also loved the historic town of Gáldar, and would highly recommend an overnight stay at Emblematic Hotel Agáldar for something a bit different. The island itself offers beautiful natural scenery and plenty of hiking opportunities, which add a great active element to any holiday. As a foodie, I really enjoyed the local cuisine, especially the cheeses and volcanic wines. For a resort stay, my top pick would be Puerto Mogan, a picture-perfect spot with Mediterranean charm, a lovely marina, and great restaurants, offering a more relaxed and scenic atmosphere rather than a lively party vibe.

Activities
Gran Canaria offers a rich mix of flavours, culture, and memorable experiences. Among the local edible delights, Ron Miel stands out, particularly from Arehucas, known for its smooth, honeyed taste. Traditional Mojo sauces - both the spicy Mojo Rojo and herb-based Mojo Verde - are essential to Canarian cuisine, alongside Agaete coffee, grown locally and prized for its smooth, nutty flavour. Artisan cheeses such as Queso de Flor de Guía and almond-based sweets like bienmesabe and mazapán are also worth trying. The island is equally known for natural skincare, especially aloe vera products from Aloe Canarias and volcanic mineral cosmetics. For a unique evening, the Origen Dinner Show combines culture, entertainment, and dining, while Playa del Inglés is ideal for those seeking vibrant nightlife.
