Vanessa Trip To Colorado Macro

To celebrate the launch of Aer Lingus’ new Dublin to Denver route, they recently hosted a trip in collaboration with the Colorado Tourism Office which I was lucky enough to be part of. Myself and a number of other travel professionals spent 5 days exploring Fort Collins & Denver, which gave us the opportunity to learn about the destination & to see for ourselves what makes Colorado so special.

Location

Colorado is a state located in the western United States, characterized by its diverse landscape that includes the majestic Rocky Mountains, expansive plains, and arid deserts. Denver, the state capital, sits near the eastern foothills of the Rockies, while Fort Collins lies further north along the Front Range. We visited in Spring, so daytime temperatures ranged from 13 – 24°C. This geographical diversity makes Colorado a unique blend of urban and natural environments, offering rich opportunities for outdoor recreation and vibrant city life.

What I Loved

I loved exploring Estes Park. This town is the base camp for the Rocky Mountain National Park. It offers breathtaking mountain views, the chance to see wildlife like elk & bears wandering around, and all kinds of outdoor activities like hiking, rock climbing, and wildlife watching. The town itself has lots of quaint shops, cozy cafes, and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you feel like enjoying a scenic drive, exploring the park's pristine trails, or relaxing by the picturesque lakes, Estes Park has something for everyone.

Activities & Places to See

  • If you can, catch a concert or event at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It’s renowned for being one of the best amphitheaters in the world thanks to its incredible sound, beautiful views & unique setting.
  • Visit Estes Park & enjoy a relaxing getaway in nature.
  • Explore the Rocky Mountain National Park & take in the breathtaking views.
  • Do the Denver Graffiti Tour in the RiNo District.
  • Tour New Belgium & learn about the brewery's history, culture, and of course try some beer!

Bars & Restaurants

Colorado’s culinary scene is varied & diverse, so there will be something to suit everyone’s tastes. There are also a plethora of breweries & taprooms throughout the region thanks to the thriving craft beer industry in Colorado. In fact, Fort Collins is home to 20 award winning craft breweries including Fat Tire & the King of Beers. Beer drinkers are sure to enjoy the many tours & different drinks offerings available. I particularly enjoyed Social, a speakeasy style bar with a heavy 1920's vibe where I had tapas & drinks.
