Louise's Trip to Tenerife
By Louise Brennan

My family and I decided we wanted to go somewhere warm, sunny and not too far away for a holiday in April. Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and it usually has great weather at that time of the year with year-round sunshine and pleasant temperatures. We flew directly from Dublin with Aer Lingus on a 4-hour flight. It was my first time to travel with a toddler so that was an experience, but the crew were very helpful and friendly.
Location
We stayed in the Royal Garden Apartments which are right on Las Vistas Beach, between Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos. The hotel is only approximately a 30 minute transfer from the airport. It was really central, with plenty of beautiful restaurants, bars and shops in the vicinity. Las Vistas shopping centre is only 5 minutes’ walk away too, so there's lots to do and see.

What I Loved
I loved the view from my balcony which overlooked the beach and sea. I spent loads of time people-watching during the day and looking at all the pretty lights at night - this was definitely a highlight for me! The gorgeous weather was amazing too, and I loved soaking it in on the various beaches around the area.

Activities & Places to See
- Siam Park is a definite must for young and old alike. It is a Thai-themed waterpark with something to cater for all ages.
- Loro Park Zoo makes for a great day out. Here. you'll be able to see lots of animals including tigers, dolphins and penguins.
- For those looking to see more of the island I would recommend a trip to see Mount Teide Volcano. Its summit is the highest point in Spain and the highest point above sea level in the islands of the Atlantic.

Shopping
Shopping can vary from local craft markets and little souvenir shops to boutiques and big shopping centres and malls with lots of high street favourites like Zara. The Safari shopping centre was great!

Food & Bars
Restaurants and bars are plentiful in the area with lots of variety. I particularly loved the Hard Rock Café with its amazing atmosphere and food. The nightlife is varied too with something for everyone. There are quiet little pubs, cafes, fancy restaurants, steak houses, disco bars and late night bars just to name a few!

Beaches
All of the beaches we visited while in Tenerife were wonderful, but my favourites were Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas.
