Karen's Trip to Murcia

Karens Trip To Murcia Macro

I stayed in the resort of La Torre in Costa Calide, where I enjoyed a wonderful Sun Holiday. I always love visiting Spain, and this trip was no exception. It was the perfect chance to get some rest & relaxation.

Location

Costa Calida is situated in the southeast of Spain, along the Mediterranean coast in the province of Murcia. The region experiences a mild climate, with warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine throughout the year. The area is known for its beautiful beaches, charming coastal towns, and a variety of outdoor activities. I stayed in an apartment in a resort called La Torre, which is a golf resort with numerous hotels, apartments, and villas dotted around. I flew with Ryanair into Murcia Airport, and had a 15 minute transfer to my hotel. You can also fly into Alicante Airport but the transfer will be longer.

What I Loved

The resort was great and had everything we needed really. However, I'm glad we decided to hire a car as it meant we got to explore more of the surroundings and go on day trips.

Activities & Places to See

  • Costa Cálida is a haven for golf lovers with numerous golf courses, including La Manga Club Resort, Roda Golf, and Hacienda del Álamo Golf Resort. Play a few rounds while you're there!
  • Discover the natural beauty of Calblanque Regional Park and Sierra Espuña Natural Park, offering hiking and biking trails amid scenic landscapes.
  • Visit the historical city of Cartagena to explore its Roman Theatre, the Castillo de la Concepción, and other archaeological sites that showcase the city's rich history.

Beaches

Costa Cálida is known for its stunning beaches with golden sands and clear waters. Spend a day relaxing on the shores of La Manga del Mar Menor, Calblanque Beach, or Playa de la Carolina.

Shopping

La Zenia Boulevard is a shopping mall with over 150 shops and is approximately a 40 minute drive from La Torre Resort. Alternatively, you can explore the local markets and shops and see the unique crafts, pottery, and traditional products like esparto grass items on offer.

Bars & Restaurants

There are endless opportunities to enjoy the delicious flavors of Murcian cuisine. Try local dishes such as zarangollo, michirones, and the famous Murcian salad. I particularly loved Acacia Trattoria, a nice Italian restaurant on-site and Rustic Grill in the nearby town of Roldan.
