Greyces Trip To Malta

I travelled to Malta in September and spent a really nice couple of days there. There are many flights weekly from Dublin, Cork and Belfast with Ryanair and the flight takes approximately 4 hours.

Location

I stayed at the Park Lane Boutique Hotel in St Pauls Bay. This was a 3 bedroom modern apartment which is the ideal spot for big groups and families. The accommodation was roughly 25 minutes by taxi from Malta Airport. St Pauls Bay is roughly 45 minutes away from the Capital of Valetta on public transport and there are many different buses that will take you there. It is also about 30 minutes away via bus to the well known area of Sliema.

What I Loved

I enjoyed the Hop on Hop off tour bus which has two routes, the red route and the blue route, which take about 2 hours and 30 minutes each if you are staying on board. You can buy a ticket for one or both. This enabled me to go around and swim on Golden Bay Beach where I also stayed to watch the sunset – this was spectacular. I also loved the craft village as I was able to see the locals making the crafts by hand.

Activities & Places to See

  • For those of you who like a late night and good nightlife, the main strip here is called Paceville and has many bars and restaurants to be found.
  • Malta has lots of history behind it, and this is particularly evident in Valetta and Medina. Anyone who wants to take in some history on their holiday should definitely take a visit here.

Shopping

There are a lot of souvenir shops and craft shops in the craft village where you can find items like glasses and jewellery among other things. There are a lot of high end shops to be found in Valetta.

Food and Bars

The food on offer in Malta is superb, and most places are relatively cheap. There are ice-cream shops on most corners which I recommend trying at least once while you're there. I’ve tasted the nicest ice cream in Malta!

Beaches

There are sandy beaches aplenty within Malta that can be easily reached by using public transport. You can also get there by the Hop on Hop off tour if you have a ticket for it.
