Corie's trip to rhodes
By corie hewston
We stayed at the adult-only 5 star Mitsis Lindos Memories Resort which is located by Navarone Bay, 1.5km away from the town of Lindos. We flew on the direct service from Dublin with Ryanair. They currently operate two flights a week from Dublin.
Rhodes Airport is located in the north of the Island around an hour from Lindos. Although it was late in the evening when we arrived, we still managed to see the beauty of the Island as we made our way south to Lindos. The historical town of Lindos sits under the ruins of the ancient acropolis. Rhodes is the capital and largest of the Dodecanese islands of Greece. It is located south-east of Athens. It's nickname is "Island of the Sun". Rhodes has a rich history due to it being a medieval city, with a variety of ancient sites and architecture around the island.
What I Loved
I love everything about Rhodes from the friendly, can’t-do-enough-for-you people, the amazing food and the beautiful sights. I honestly think this is my favourite beach destination in Europe.
Activities & Places to See
- Lindos offered plenty of family run tavernas to choose from. The Greek food and local wine was fabulous. As a vegetarian I loved the local dishes.
- The city of Rhodes is one of the best preserved Medieval towns in Europe.
- Spend the day relaxing on the golden sands of St. Paul’s Bay. This beach is a tiny cove surrounded by rocky mountains, and gives visitors the chance to admire the traditional Greek sights that Rhodes has to offer, from its white-washed houses to its hilly terrain.
- Visit Cyprus Square located at the center of Rhodes where you can fulfill all your shopping needs.
Entertainment & Nightlife
The Mitsis Lindos Memories Resort has entertainment each evening in the hotel along with a Greek night once a week. If you are looking for something a little livelier, take a taxi to Pefkos or head to Lindos where the nightlife goes on into the earlier hours.
