Caroline's trip to Las Vegas
By Caroline O'Brien
I travelled directly from Dublin into Las Vegas McCarran International Airport with Aer Lingus. The airport is located approximately 5 miles from the Las Vegas Strip and 4 miles from downtown Las Vegas. It's well-connected to the city via taxi, and the Las Vegas Monorail.
Location
Nestled in the heart of Southern Nevada, a desert region known for its arid climate and dramatic landscapes, Las Vegas has blossomed into a city of unparalleled spectacle. The iconic Las Vegas Strip, a 4.2-mile stretch of South Las Vegas Boulevard, serves as the city's dazzling centerpiece, lined with world-famous hotels, casinos, and entertainment venues that collectively paint a picture of unparalleled extravagance.
What I Loved
The sheer scale and grandeur of the Las Vegas Strip was truly awe-inspiring. Walking along its length, surrounded by towering hotels and dazzling lights, was an unforgettable experience. The convenience of walking along the Strip and exploring the various hotels and attractions added a sense of adventure and allowed for spontaneous discoveries. No trip is complete without a dose of retail therapy. The city offers a variety of shopping experiences, but for those seeking designer brands at discounted prices, the Las Vegas Premium Outlets are a must-visit destination.
Activities & Places to See
- The Las Vegas Strip offers an unparalleled concentration of world-class entertainment. Explore iconic hotels like the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, and the Venetian, each with its own unique theme and attractions.
- We took a behind-the-scenes tour of Allegiant Stadium, the home of the Las Vegas Raiders. This architectural marvel boasts a movable natural grass field and cutting-edge technology.
- The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, also known as the Mob Museum, delves into the captivating history of organized crime in America and makes for a very interesting activity.
- I got the opportunity to go on a thrilling helicopter tour with Maverick Helicopters. They operate a fleet of modern aircraft, ensuring a comfortable and safe flight. It was an amazing way of seeing many of Las Vegas' most iconic landmarks in a truly unique way.
- If you can, catch a show at the Las Vegas Sphere. We saw Darren Aronofsky's "Postcard from Earth" and it was truly incredible to see this marvel of modern architecture and engineering in real life.
Restaurants & Bars
Las Vegas offers a diverse culinary scene with world-class restaurants catering to every palate. Sadelle's at the Bellagio Conservatory serves a mouthwatering breakfast in breathtaking botanical surroundings. The Buffet at Wynn Las Vegas is a feast for the senses, featuring 16 food kitchens offering global cuisine and a showstopping dessert station.
