Audrey's trip to Toulouse

By Audrey Kavanagh

Toulouse 2 (2)

We decided to take a mid-week break in Toulouse, thinking it would be the perfect getaway. The only downside was that a heatwave hit while we were there, pushing temperatures to a scorching 40 degrees. Unfortunately, the extreme heat kept us from doing any of the activities we had planned for our trip. Despite the unexpected challenge, we still enjoyed the city and found ways to stay cool.

What I Loved

Toulouse's blend of history, innovation, culture, and culinary delights makes it a delightful destination for travelers seeking a unique and enriching experience.

Activities & Places to See

  • The city center is incredibly pretty.
  • Must-see landmarks include the Capitole and Basilique Saint-Sernin.
  • Our hotel was conveniently located next to Jardin Japonais, which looked beautiful.
  • An excursion to Cité de l'Espace is highly recommended.

Shopping

Toulouse offers a diverse shopping experience, blending traditional markets, stylish boutiques, and modern shopping centers. The heart of Toulouse, around the Capitole building, offers a mix of high-end shops, department stores, and boutique shops. Explore Rue Alsace-Lorraine and Rue d'Alsace for a variety of shops. Located in the Victor Hugo district, this covered market is a great place to explore local produce, fresh foods, and artisanal products. It's perfect for those looking to experience the local flavours.
