Abids Trip To Majorca

Last year I travelled with my wife and my sons to Majorca in Spain, and spent 6 days enjoying this sunny destination. It was a great family trip. Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands, with an awesome coastline, cliffs, tasty cuisine, and the incredible Mediterranean nature. We flew with Ryanair directly from Dublin to Palma de Mallorca Airport. From the airport we took the airport transfer to our hotel in Alcudia, Spain which took about 1 hour and 36 minutes.

Location

Alcudia is in the north-eastern part of Majorca. Full of history and sandy beaches with crystal water, Alcudia is a perfect summer holiday for all ages. There are lots of amenities which tourists are sure to love, including plenty of bars, restaurants, sightseeing opportunities and shops. We stayed in the 4 star Iberostar Ciudad Blanca AparHotel, which is located right on the beach front. It is situated close to Alcudia centre, Hidropark and Port d’Alcudia. It is a great hotel for families. It has a lagoon-style pool with hot hub, children's pool, restaurant, and a poolside snack bar. Each apartment has air conditioning and includes a balcony which offers views of the sea, pool or gardens.

What I Loved

We loved the area of Playa d’Alcudia, with its golden sand and crystal water. It was the perfect place to relax and spend time with our children. Port d’Alcudia was incredible aswell, with its vibrant and lively vibes and abundance of of restaurants, bars, and café’s.

Activities & Places to See

  • Walk through the Old Town of Alcudia where you can see monuments like Sant Jaume church.
  • Have a splash to the Hydro Park Alcudia. It is great fun for children and has big swimming pools, water games and slides.
  • Spend a few days in the capital city of Palma de Mallorca.
  • Become one with nature and admire the plants and wildlife on a tour of S’ Albufera Nature Park.
  • Enjoy a Flamenco show at the Plaza de Toros to become familiar with the traditional Spanish dance.
  • Have an enjoyable wine tasting experience in one of the wineries near Alcudia, such as Bodegas Xaloc, Can Azartell and Bodegas Can Vidalet.

Shopping

Shopping in Alcudia is very nice. They have lovely shops with a lot of typical products, souvenirs, and clothes. One of the best places to find original Mallorcan products is the famous Alcudia Market which is on Tuesday and Sunday. There's always lots of products on offer here. Also visit Puerto Alcudia market, which takes place every Friday morning. There are lots of shops in Alcudia Old Town which are full of character too.

Food and Bars

Puerto de Alcudia is the centre of nightlife in Majorca. There are plenty of restaurants which offer Spanish cuisine and also international cuisine, so its the best place to spend the evening after a beach or tour day.

Beaches

Alcudi has many beaches where you can relax and sunbathe. The most famous close to Alcudi are La Playa de Alcudia and Playa del Puerto de Alcudia, which have calm water and fine gold sand. They are blue flag beaches with plenty of facilities and sports to do like pedalò, banana boats, kayaks and windsurfing. Playa de Muro and Es Trenc are white sand beaches with facilities such as restaurants, toilets and sunbeds, and is a great option for families. Here, you can also do activities such as sailing, jet skiing, paragliding, scuba diving and water skiing.
