Fuerteventura is renowned for its 150 km of white sandy beaches, its turquoise waters, its enormous sand dunes and, of course, its year round sunny climate which make it an ideal holiday destination.

While it’s not as well known as some of the other Canary Islands, it’s the second largest in geographic size and the closest to Africa. Just 100 km separate it from the Moroccan coast and it’s on the same latitude as Florida and Mexico.

Fuerteventura attracts visitors that are generally interested in a quiet relaxing holiday but, of course, there are many bars and restaurants and good quality entertainment venues, along with many welcoming Irish bars around Fuerteventura's resorts.

Fuerteventura has 3 main tourist areas: the north is where Corralejo Nature Park, Corralejo town and El Cotillo beaches are located. This region has stunning white sand beaches, fishing villages and evening entertainment.

In the middle, the popular Caleta de Fuste is located. The local waters here are known for their dolphin and turtle populations and local recreation includes beach activities, sailing, windsurfing and diving. Enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding volcanic landscape from the Morro Velosa viewpoint, in Betancuria.

Betancuria

. Bref, cela fût une pause déjeuner bien agréable !! . Bon vendredi soir 😉 !! 🌺 😉 🌺 #loves_canarias #icanarias_beautiful #icanarias_beautiful_landscapes #canariasviva #ok_canarias #canarios5estrellas #canariasgrafias #espacio_canario #ig_canarias #canariashoy #vieuxlille #hautsdefrance #igersarras #ig_canaryislands #monumentalspain #ok_spain #fuerteventura #fuerteventuraexperience #fuerteventura2019 #visitfuerteventura #fuertetribe #7islas_vips #visitlanzarote #lanzaroteisland #fuerteventuraisland #betancuria #street_focus_on #best_streetview #betancuriafuerteventura #ok_streets

The town of Betancuria has an enormous historical significance as it is considered to be the first capital of the Canary Islands due to the cathedral, episcopal headquarters and the first monastery in the whole archipelago.

Beaches of Costa Calma and Morro Jable

In the south, the beaches of Costa Calma and Morro Jable are considered the finest beaches to be found anywhere in the Atlantic Ocean. Between Costa Calma and Morro Jable, you’ll find 22km of white sandy beach and turquoise waters.

Watersports

The island is famous for its watersports. The climate is windy and this is of benefit to those who are interested in windsurfing, surfing, kitesurfing and diving.

Heritage Town of La Olivia

Aside from the numerous water activities, Fuerteventura has a number of cultural activities that are celebrated in different villages. The Colonel’s Route (Ruta de Los Coroneles La Olivia) celebrates the heritage of the town La Olivia. This route includes the attractions Casa de la Cilla (grain museum), Candelaria Church, House of the Colonels, Centre Arte Canario and traditional market located in the Colonel’s House.
