Attractions

• A Rome holiday isn’t complete without seeing the Colosseum. This symbol of the Roman Empire is the biggest amphitheatre every built!
• Visit the Vatican City and admire Michelangelo’s masterpiece
• Throw two coins into the Trevi Fountain: One to make a wish and the other to be sure to return to Rome
• Pay a visit to the Pantheon. Don’t forget to look up when you’re inside and admire the stunning domed ceiling.

Nightlife 

Romans don’t tend to have dinner until after 8:30pm, so nightlife starts late. If you are looking to hit the pubs, rooftop bars and clubs, Friday-Sunday is the best time to do so. Testacci, Ostiense & Trastevere are lively areas. The atmosphere is electric over the weekend and a lot of venues stay open until the early hours of the morning.

Dining Out

As previously mentioned, Italians eat late but the food is worth the wait! You can start with an Appetizer as you enjoy views of the Colosseum, followed by a delicious dinner by the Trevi Fountain. Of course, the pasta & pizza is out of this world, but the city offers many international cuisines too.

For Families 

Kids will love Cinecittá World! This is a theme park with a total of 40 attractions, 6 shows a day, a swimming pool and so much more. Prepare your kids for a trip to the Colosseum by signing them up for a session at Rome’s Gladiator School. Here they will be kitted out with tunics and training swords and taught some basic moves!

Shopping 

Head to Via del Corso, here you will find high street brands like Zara, Mango & H&M. If you have a higher budget or just want to admire some shop windows pay a visit to Via Condotti. This is one of Rome’s most prestigious shopping streets with brands like Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino & more.

Roman Summer Festival

The Estate Romane, or Roman Summer Festival, is an unmissable event. This takes place from June to September every year. The festival boasts an outdoor cinema, operas, ballets and a calendar of exciting nightlife.

Best Time to Go

Most locals would agree that the best time to visit Rome is between September - November & April - May. Temperatures are perfect for exploring the city and there are fewer crowds. However, December is also a beautiful time to visit. There are many Christmas markets to enjoy and the atmosphere is electric.

Getting around 

 The flight time from Dublin to Rome is just over 3 hours. The city is home to two airports but flying into Ciampino is more convenient as it is closer to the city. To get around Rome we recommend using the public transport or walking. There is no need to rent a car as traffic in Rome is crazy! If your hotel is in the city centre, you could even rent a bike.
