No matter what time of year, Lanzarote is the ideal holiday destination for those searching for sizzling sunny horizons. So which beaches should you visit when you arrive? See our recommendations for the best beaches in Lanzarote!

1: PLAYA DE PAPAGAYO

Don’t be confused by this beach's name, as there are plenty of Playa de Papagayo beaches throughout Lanzarote, but the one we’re talking about is the last which you’ll pass on the way to the Punta del Papagayo as if you’re travelling east from Playa Blanca. This beautiful beach is a 120m stretch of golden sand, with the water being especially clear, it offers the perfect shaded spot to sunbathe or go for a swim. We’d recommend bringing your own food and drink as the beach shack can be quite pricey!

2: PLAYA CHICA

One of Lanzarote’s shortest beaches is also one of the most beautiful. Located in Puerto del Carmen, at only 90m long this beach is sheltered by rocks and is known for the excellent swimming conditions. Ideal for tourists looking to snorkel or scuba dive, there’s plenty of ways to keep yourself entertained while relaxing along Playa Chica. Situated near the Costa Volcan Apartments, Playa de Chica is one Lanzarote’s shortest beaches, but also one of the most beautiful.

3: PLAYA DE FAMARA

In contrast to the tiny Playa Chica, Playa de Famara is a golden stretch of sand which goes on for a huge 6km, perfect for long walks with friends and family. This is the most popular surfing beach in Lanzarote and the wind can be a factor unless you like sandy sandwiches! There are also a number of bars and restaurants which are the perfect place to watch the sun go down.

4: PLAYA BLANCA

Once an old, quiet fishing town, Playa Blanca is now one of Lanzarote’s best known resorts, particularly popular with families. Near the popular H10 Lanzarote Gardens, clear blue waters, scenic views and gorgeous sunshine are all features of this beautiful beach. With the 40m stretch of sand, surrounded by restaurants and bars, there’s nothing more you could ask for with a visit to Playa Blanca beach.

5: PLAYA CALETÓN BLANCO

Last but not least is Playa Caletón Blanco, located along Lanzarote’s north coast. This isn’t a beach to be missed. With silky white sand and turquoise seas, this fantastic beach is set against ebony lava rocks making a shocking contrast to the pale sand. At 500m long, it is the perfect spot for some relaxation time and it’s especially popular with families because of the shallow rock pools ideal for adventurous toddlers.
