Things to do in the United Arab Emirates

By Louise Doyle

Burj Al Arab

A holiday to the UAE makes for incredible memories! I was lucky enough to spend some time here with YouTravel recently and I already want to go back. I visited Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi. They were all very different but equally enjoyable. I highly recommend flying with Emirates as the service was fabulous. The in-flight entertainment was world class and they even offered a complimentary drink service.

Location

Dubai was the first stop on this UAE adventure. This city is often described as a luxurious playground, which I agree with. There is so much to see and do! My home for the night was the 5-star Canal Central Hotel. This hotel offers some of the best Arabian hospitality and it has a great location in the heart of the city!

The next stop was Bab Al Bahr Resort, a stunning resort on Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah. The unique thing about this resort is that it is completely all-inclusive, you can indulge in a variety of restaurants at no extra cost. Surrounded by pristine white sand and turquoise water, this place is a heaven on earth. If you are planning a Dubai holiday, I highly recommend adding a few nights stay here to your itinerary.

Finally, I made myself at home in the Beach Rotana Residence, Abu Dhabi. The staff here go above and beyond for you and the place is truly stunning.

What I Loved

I loved how the UAE can offer you aspects of both a city and beach holiday. I also really enjoyed admiring the luxury cars dotted everywhere, it was an experience in itself.

Activities and Places to See

  • Dive into some excitement at Aquaventure Waterpark. The adrenaline pumping rides here are world renowned, after all it is the home of the world’s biggest waterslide. Aquaventure is also very kid-friendly and there are plenty of places to relax.

  • Break records, see the most luxurious cars or even drive one for yourself, the Ferrari fuelled fun is endless in Abu Dhabi!

  • I really enjoyed my visit to Jumeriah Mosque, it is a must do on a Dubai holiday. This mosque welcomes visitors of all faiths to admire the beauty of the building and to learn more about Islam and the local culture.

  • Admire the Sand dunes, Sunsets and Scenery on a Desert Safari. This is an experience I’ll never forget. It was so much fun, and the landscape was just stunning!

Shopping

Whether you’re looking for high street or designer brands, Dubai has some of the best shopping facilities in the world. My personal favourites would have to be Dubai mall and the Mall of Emirates. One tip I would give about shopping is, take advantage of the duty free in the airport when you arrive!

Food & Bars

I would recommend a board basis when booking your hotel as eating out in most of the Emirates can be quite expensive. The food in all the hotels I mentioned was to die for. Buddha bar is a great spot for cocktails and offers amazing panoramic views of Dubai.
