Things to do in Luxembourg

Things to do in Luxembourg

For such a small country, Luxembourg has so much to see and do! I flew direct here with Luxair and spent a few days exploring the sights. It is the perfect destination for a weekend break.

The 4* Hotel Goeres Parc Belair was my home for the next few nights. This hotel was in the perfect location as it’s just a 15-minute walk from the city centre. My room was lovely, and the service was great. The restaurant boasts a lovely quiet terrace, the perfect place to relax with a cup of coffee.

What I Loved

I fell in love with the scenery! Luxembourg has some of the best views in Europe. The lush greenery of the natural valleys and rolling hills takes your breath away. I also loved the medieval architecture; it was amazing to see how they repurpose old buildings.

Activities & Places to See

The Caves St Martin is one of the nicest sparkling wine vineyards. Watch the production process from the start to end, as well as sample a glass.

For those who are interested in learning about the EU, the European Museum of Schengen is worth a visit.

If you want to do some shopping on your Luxembourg holiday, then the old town city centre is the best place to go. There are plenty of shops to choose from here. I loved their clothing stores; they had some unique items that you wouldn’t see in Ireland.

Food & Bars

Luxembourg is a quiet town, but I found some good nightlife in The Brewery. Here you will find different types of bars selling a variety of drinks, priced similarly to Dublin. I enjoyed some French food in the Cafesino. This buffet style restaurant will make you keep going up for more! The Restaurant am Tiirmschen is a small, quiet restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. If you want to try some local dishes, this is the place to go. I also visited the Mondorf Domaine Thermal and spent some time unwinding in the spas before enjoying more French styled food in the Brasserie Maus Kätti.

My biggest tip would be to pack appropriately, the weather can be unpredictable at times so pack a rain jacket. A Luxembourg holiday involves plenty of walking, so pack walking shoes too! It’s easy to fall in love with the tranquillity and natural beauty of this country. Experience it for yourself and book a Luxembourg weekend break. You can thank me later.
