WELCOME TO ARGENTINA

Argentina is home to a range of captivating landscapes, from the snow-capped Andes to the dusty plains of Patagonia. This is a land of infinite adventures from trekking the evergreen forests of the Lake District to exploring the verdant rainforests of Missiones horse riding in the scorched mountains of Salta or playing the gaucho in the lush Pampas. A backpacker’s paradise, Argentina is a wealth of opportunities.

The capital city, Buenos Aires has a contemporary feel and is bustling with energy. Culture and heritage are still very important to the people and the tango continues to thrive in this cosmopolitan city. The Argentinians are passionate people and the majority have a common devotion to football, food and partying. A trip to Argentina is sure to involve at least a taster of the three. Argentina is a country in which to enjoy fine wines, great food and magnificent landscapes.

The most unique aspect of Argentina is the vastly different landscapes, the dusty plains of the east and the snow-capped mountain range to the west. This range makes up the Chilean border and includes the highest peak in the Western hemisphere, the Aconcagua which is 6,959m high. The Andes present more stunning contrasts including the Northwest plateaus, the lake region, the forests and the glaciers.

Between the Paraná and Uruguay rivers, the Argentine Mesopotamia is formed by low hills with swampy marshland acting as evidence of the ancient courses of these great rivers. The subtropical rain forest provides such phenomenal sights as the Iguazú Falls, considered one of the greatest natural wonders in the world.

The Atlantic coastline draws visitors from the Andes to the south to catch some sun on the beaches of Mar del Plata and Pinamar. Lined with high cliffs, massive indentations like the Peninsula Valdés and spectacular and unique colonies of sea animals, it is not surprising that these beaches are popular with tourists and locals alike.

Argentina offers visitors fantastic settings in which to enjoy a number of sports activities. From June to September, the great mountains are perfect for skiing. Argentina is an excellent golfing destination and is also great for hiking, biking, fishing, and white-water rafting.

Argentina’s spectacular geography and wealth of activities make it an exciting country to visit. Anyone with an interest in roaming the wild and spectacular landscape and indulging in all the activities, cuisine and entertainment the country has to offer will find Argentina a wonderful adventure.
