Top Things To Do in Kusadasi and Antalya

If you are looking for a sun, sea and fun holiday destination, Kusadasi and Antalya are the places to be. Kusadasi is one of the most popular Turkish destinations which is a favourite for many tourists. Antalya is also a great beach holiday and is filled with many historic sites which make it the perfect destination for those who are culturally curious. These beach towns have plenty to offer and we have a list of the top things that you must do when in Kusadasi or Antalya.

 

1. Ladies Beach

Kusadasi is a beach town so there are plenty of beaches around but Ladies Beach is definitely people’s favourite where you can just sunbathe and relax. If you prefer being active, there are plenty of water sports, restaurants and bars to keep everyone entertained.

 

2. Izmir

Izmir is a must visit when in Kusadasi. It is about an hour and a half journey but it is all worth it. See the Temple of Hadrian and walk along the marbled-paved streets of Curetes. Also be sure to check out the Roman ruins in Ephesus. History lovers will have a blast at these attractions.

 

3. Cave of Zeus

Cave of Zeus is within the Dilek Peninsula-Buuk Menderes Delta National Park. According to Greek mythology, Zeus hid in this cave to hide the wrath of Poseidon. Many visitors would come here and tie a piece of cloth on a wishing tree near the cave’s mouth as a tradition.

 

4. Old Town Kaleici

Stroll along the maze-like streets of Antalya’s Old Town (Kaleici). There are a number of galleries and restaurants throughout the town. This town is known for its whitewashed and red-roofed Ottoman mansions that is now home to a number of restaurants and galleries. Stop by Kale Kapisi which is the town’s main square where the stone-clad clock tower and fortress gate are which is worth the look.

 

5. Aspendos

Many history aficionados visitors come to Antalya is to stop by Aspendos – an archaeological site that is home to a Roman theatre which was built in 2nd centur AD during the rign of Marcus Aurelius. This theatre can seat up to 20,000 people and is used for festivals such as the Aspendos Opera Festival which is held annually. If you still have time to spare, head to Aspendos’ Acropolis where there are remains of a small temple. There also is a fountain shrine (nymphaeum).
